If robot bodies were invented, would you get one?

Referring to something on the same level as a the movie Surrogate - bodies physically mechanical but outwardly indistinguishable from human bodies, flesh and function alike.

For the purpose of this discussion, assume that your brain could be uploaded to a hard-drive-like "brain" and that backups could be made.

Your robot body would be fully customizable so long as it stayed without the realm of humanoid, though more far-off "body mods" would likely be incredibly expensive. Think of it like a car, basically, only more universally available.

Assuming that you had the funds to acquire such a body, would you think it morally right to do so?

I'd say yes for obvious reasons but y'know it's discussions and shit.

Of course I'd do it. And "morally right"? It's your own body, obviously there's nothing wrong with it.

Well I don't disagree but I mean technically it wouldn't be your own body. That's kinda the whole point.

It's your body that you're choosing to get rid of. The robot body is just a possession that you're buying. There's nothing about this scenario that's morally ambiguous in any way.

Again, I definitely agree with you

But the opposite could easily be argued, even more easily from a religious/spiritual standpoint

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
Not really fond of living forever

No thanks.

I mean, on its face, the very prospect sounds nightmarishly awful on a number of levels.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become Mythic..
Definitely if I had a deadly disease, large physical injuries or just old.

However since I am none of those at this time, I like my skin.

Seems impractical for daily use unless you put yourself in danger of injury or illness on a regular basis, if you're talking about the Surrogates model where the person is just hooked up to a machine transmitting their brain signals to and from the robot. If you're talking about copying a person's brain into a robot permanently, like in Soma, I'd definitely say no.
