i think me and my family are in danger.

some of you may recall a few months agp when i got a job in construction. a few weeks after that, i made a thread about how a true friend always has your back, no matter what. well, i was wrong. the person i was talking about was my former boss and friend, and i think he represents a danger to my family.

i started work with him a few weeks into a contract gig he had with my father to landscape the front yard of our house (part of a bigger project that included several houses in the area). the project consisted of redoing our front lawn, and central walkway to the porch, a new fence on the east side of fhe house and a driveway. to my knowledge, this was all that was planned for this season.

now, my former boss, for whatever reason, really took a liking to me. i dont know what it was. on several occasions, he made promises to teach me the business and make me his partner someday if he saw more of what he liked. he tried to be a father figure for me, and honestly, he is. to some extent, anyway. but i think mostly he saw an opportunity through me to get to my dad. he and my dad used to be business competitors back in the late 80s. from what i can gather, my boss played it high-stakes and was making some decent movement in a field where my dad had already started to mark his teritory. for i think mostly unrelated reasons, my old boss's business collapsed on itself. he told me it was because of his friend, former partner and current employee (my coworker), and his connections to the italian mob, which would later land him divorced and in prison.again, i believe him. but when my boss was eating the dirt after an unsuccessful business venture, my dad was making bank. that's when he started to build up his wealth to the point he's at now.

so when my old boss looks at me, and the love my dad has for me, he sees a business opportunity. through my father's love for me, he could secure a solid investment with a man he knows has enough money to turn his life around.this is more the reasom than anything else, i think, considering my lack of skill in the field and the prematurety of his promises.

but eventually, things between the two of them worsened. my father was being stingy with the money, and as a result, my boss wasnt paying me. i was getting pissed off, my boss was getting pissed off, and my father was getting pissed off. my boss's argument was that the funds hed been given were not enough to finish the project. my father's argument was that the funds hed given were more than enough to finish what was agreed upon for that work season, and tht my boss had begun consctruction on things that were not planned during the beginning stages of the contract, things he had never asked for or wanted my boss to do.

eventually, my brother in law got me a job in a small engines shop working solid hours with a paycheck and benefits. so i quit working in construction. i remained on good terms with my old boss, but i knew he was talking shit about me behind my back. thats just the kind of person he was. he brought on this new kid to replace me, amd after a few weeks, the kid quit. i asked my boss what happened, and the shit talk that spewed out told me only one thing -- that he was saying the same things about me behind my back.

anyways, after i quit, the project seemed to hasten to completion. once everything in the front yard was completed, things in the backyard were left mostly unfinished. as far as i knew, my old boss and my father left on bad terms. i havent talked to him at all. he hasnt reached out. nothing.

and today i find out hes hounding my father for more money. my father is an honest man, and he was my boss's friend before all this. if he owed money, he'd pay it. despite this, my old boss has apparently been making threats that "he cant tell us about, because it would upset your mother a great deal." one thing i do know is that he threatened to bulldoze the fence in the front yard during the middle of the night if we didnt pay. and thats just the thing -- he is that psychotic. to come in the night with a bobcat and run the whole thing down. this is a man who routinely cheats on and bad mouths his wife, has a history of assault and violence against civilians and cops, and has ties to italian mobsters and other criminal families. when you talk to him, you feel like youre talking to the devil. he was raised in foster care because his dad ran off and his mother was a mental case. he has this look in his eye that he could just snap any moment. and the only thing i keep with me that he offered as guidance was

"when youre a small guy, you have to have an equalizer. a bat, crowbar, knife, bottle. anything. you get whatever you can get to bring your enemy to your level."

this is a man who will take whatever measures he needs and hurt whoever he feels needs to be to get what he wants. men, women, children, animals. he doesnt care. i genuinely feel like my family and myself are in danger and if he comes around i dont know if i have the ability to protect them. and that scares the shit out of me.

i just needed to vent and write some of this shit down. i dont know what to do. my father and brother are out of town, and it seems like the ideal time for him to come around. i need to be ready.

But what was the dream?

he was running a tractor through my backyard about to run over my three dogs, when i jump out of my window onto the top of his tractor. he shuts off the tractor and says to me, "jackie, get off of there. ill stop doing this for you."

i jump off, and he gets out of the tractor with this look that hes going to beat the shit out of me. he yells at me to "stay the fuck away from him" while he begins to charge at me with a sadistic smile. naturally, i sprint and run up my back fence balancing on top of the divider between properties -- its the quickest way to put some distance between us.at rhe end of the fence, i jump off on the other side. he can see me, i can see him, but he doesnt jump the fence. he begins to run back to the house. thats when i wake myself up.
