I just installed a new doorknob, AMA

According to Texas legal code the doorknob I replaced is not considered a Security Device, but the one I installed is.
This means that I do not need permission to add it.

By installing it, it becomes a permanent fixture.
I anticipate my landlord will remove the device, if not the door itself.

If he does this, then he has retaliated against me.
Under Subchapter H, this is an unfounded retaliation.

Further, I am entitled to, in this case, one month's rent plus $500, moving costs, actual expenses, as well as all court costs and attorney fees, on top of any civil penalties he may owe me under Subchapter H.

Go ahead, AMA me anything.

I plan on installing a new one on my bedroom door once I move to Charleston. If I can't then I'll just put a bucket of milk over the door and go out the window when I leave.
