I knew he was full of himself, but I never thought it was to the point where he thinks he can tell other people what their values are, without a trace of sarcasm or irony

Sounds like it's getting to you. If someone thinks they can set their ideals on you in a forceful/insulting way, ignore them. It's not worth your time.

I'm not about to let someone here tell me what I find value in is worthless, and/or unimportant simply because they have different opinions and values than I do. If they actually talked about it in a clear way that offered points, that's a different story.

Yeah, probably because I consider him one of the smartest people on here, and I always thought he was a thoughtful kind of person who really thinks about things. And it's like, if someone like that came to a conclusion that's just so out of reality, what am I doing wrong? I know in my head that I don't believe these things, but the fact that other people think I do is maddening.
