Okay, I have seen parts of the movies, but I never have actually watched Star Wars from beginning to end.
Except for Space Balls.

So, for all the super nerds out there. Should I binge watch Star Wars before the new one comes out?

There are some jokes in the prequels that only make sense if you watch the OT first, but whenever marathoning them I prefer to watch the Prequels first.

1 and 2 are fun for a lazy dog dangling afternoon. You can skip 3 because It's 3. A lot of dumb stuff happens mostly because it has to, like the Kenobi and Grievous bullshit. 4, 5, and 6 are good, but don't have high expectations for the end of 6.

it's actually kinda neat, as weird as it is

the idea is that you follow luke's original story at first

then after empire, as soon as we learn who darth vader is, we take a flashback to his past
you know, to witness how he ends up joining the dark side

then after we learn his circumstances, it adds a whole ton of added build-up for episode 6

you're technically supposed to skip episode 1, because it's pretty inconsequential, but i like to keep it in
just for the sake of completing the series

4 and 5 sets up the SW universe without really spoiling anything, then when you get to the twist in Ep.5 you can go on to watch the prequels to see how a certain character became who he was, before wrapping everything up with 6.

The machete order is the best way to implement the prequels without ruining the OT.
