I got accepted into college

So, I was kind of worried after tanking my AS levels (I got UUUE, lol) that I wouldn't be able to get into a college because of how late it would be (Term starts in a week), but I went to enrollment today and got in.

So now, providing I eventually get onto the university course I'm interested in, I'll be doing computer games development for the next six years of my life

I must say, for the first time in a while, I'm really fuckin optimistic about what I'm doing. I more did A lvel in the first place at my parent's behest, but I guess they realised now that trying to get me to do stuff doesn't work.

So... yeah. I'm pretty happy now. Get to do the subject I'm most interested in for two-and-a-half days a week, and gives me an extra two days to go and find a part time job.

Nah. British college is free, provided you're under 19 at the time you start. Or at least the one I'm at is, anyway.

Though British university is more akin to american college though. Apparently, our college = american high school. So I guess that means middle school = secondary/ high school here and elementary school = primary school in britain.

Or something like that, anyway.

Seriously the deal you got sounds good, but to be honest, quickly learn as much about the industry as you can. There are many fields you can push into. Basically video game development has a wide range of jobs to specialize in and the best thing to do is learn as much as you can of the industry and with that knowledge find the niche you are interested in and work towards that goal.

Hope you do well, and network as best as you can, the job market only helps those with contacts.

I was originally told I wouldn't get into the College I applied to for my Engineering course, but then a week later I got my enrollment letter telling me I got accepted.
The interviewer was undoubtedly just talking out of his arse.

Well, I already know python to a proficient level (It's basically beginner code) as I'm now self-teaching Java. And I've already made a couple of little games in both. Nothing complicated, but cool enough.

One day, I guess my main thing would be to work at 343i or Bethesda studios.

Even if I don't go into games, I'll still have the skills necessary to go into software or web development, so it's still pretty open.

Also, I'm getting a job. It's practically confirmed I'll be getting it, too.

I'll be working at GAME. Not on the counter (need to be 18. And in not until march), but on the shop floor, telling people about games and shit. For someone with crippling social anxiety, this is going to be shit, at least in the first few days. But it's still good that I get to work in something t least kind of related to my interests. Literally everyone else I know who has a job is basically dish washing in resteraunts.

It's the other bonus of my college thing. I only have a 16 hour week, so that's like, two and a half days at college, and two and a half off. Plus weekend. I never wanted to get a job while in full time education because I value my free time. But now I have more free time, so I can start doing this.

It'll be cool to start having money outside of christmas and my birthday. And maybe it'll help with my near-phobia of talking to people I don't know.

Yeah. Whenever I've been in the one near me, they seem pretty cool. Aside from this one guy who was a dick about me not being allowed to trade in fallout new Vegas a couple years back (I was getting the ultimate edition)
