A Mormon was trying to get me to convert and I was schooling his ass in biblical knowledge, and eventually he went home flustered and crying.

I started wondering, why has the bible had significant enough impact on me to form such a wealth of knowledge?

When I was younger, I studied the bible, and read it daily, not for religious practice, but purely because of its riveting mythos.

The only conclusion I can come.to is that it was God who drew me in, trying to show me the truth, and my misfortune is a result of my misplaced faith.
