And I loved the shit out of it. It was cheesy in all the right forms and had a nice world-building feeling to it for a kaiju movie. I also had no idea Ron Perlman was in it and he was great.

I thought some of the kaiju were pretty lame design-wise, but my favorite had to be the one Gypsy Danger fights in Hong Kong and ends up pulling wings out of nowhere and starts flying.

Speaking of Gypsy Danger, the Jaegers are cool and their concept on how they operate was unique and I enjoyed that. I liked all their designs besides the Russian because it looked like a giant metal bucket with arms. All in all, Jaegers are cool, but they're nowhere near Mechagodzilla levels of cool.

I'm excited to see the sequel now.

Kaiju blood is supposed to be incredibly toxic/acidic; it's why 90% of the Jaeger attacks use blunt force, so that it doesn't spill everywhere and cause more destruction/ocean contamination.

I only watched it once and I spent half the time making fun of it so maybe I missed this but I don't remember this being said in the movie. I guess they expect you to know that.

Towards the beginning of the movie, they describe the blood as a "toxic phenomenon", with a visual of its spread through the Pacific Ocean and a hazmat team cleaning a beach of it. In addition, many people in the movie walk around wearing those surgical masks. Chau also mentions having to slow down the acid reaction in the fallen Kaiju later in the movie. Also, one of the HK Kaiju literally melts steel with its blood vomit thing, so regardless of the normal toxicity of Kaiju blood, they probably wouldn't want any of that Kaiju falling over the city. And in the novelization, Tendo's grandfather became terminally ill because of contact with it.

IIRC the reason why they fly so high up into the air before cutting it apart is so that the blood can dissipate, as trace amounts over a large area won't have as much of a negative effect as a large amount in one small area.

Originally the sequel was going to be about what to do with all the jaegers and technology now that the world is freed of kaiju

That doesn't sound cool at all. That's boring as fuck in a genre like this.

Del Toro is a good enough director that I trust him to make an entertaining film
Plus it'd cool to see where the world would go from the events of Pacific Rim

Maybe he can get the rights to Mechagodzilla and show the Jaegers what a real killing machine can do
