Now, don't get me wrong--that's not necessarily me that I'm talking about there. I couldn't have brought myself to hate anyone in my class. I was very lucky to have a class of very cool, positive, accepting, and open-minded people. So I probably could have afforded to go to prom, if I cared. I just didn't. Big social gatherings just aren't my thing.

Someone like my sister isn't as lucky as I am, though. She hates everyone in her class, and for good reason.

I sure as shit don't. There was nothing entertaining about being crammed into a single room with 24 other "young adults" and made to be the school district's lab rats for how they can push more bullshit on the students for graduation requirements and continuously remove more and more freedoms.

Sophomore year, seniors and juniors could leave for lunch, when I became a junior, only seniors could but they had to hand in their student ID (which we had to wear at all times like prisoners), senior year: not allowed to leave at all.

Went to my Junior prom with my then-girlfriend, but very few people went to my Senior prom.

Going to prom without a date the second year just didn't interest me. Even the year before, I did it for my girlfriend, not because I was really enthusiastic about it. If you aren't into the music, then it's pretty hard to have fun dancing to stuff you don't like (Unless you have a girl with you, but then you're not really having fun because of the music, right?). Throw on something I love, and things change, but I don't have a normal taste in music.

So eh. I can think of a thousand things I'd rather do.
