I'm thinking about getting a gun.

I'm old enough to get a gun legally and since I have the money I figured I might as well. I'm going to google the laws in my state and what not but I'm looking for gun buying tips. It'll be a long process so my mind is subject to change but I've been looking at Glocks and H and K pistols. 9 mm.
And before anyone has a fit, I plan to use it for personal protection and to go to the range. I've shot a ton of guns already but I want to own one.

Had one for 4 years. Just picked up the newer one, a few months back.

Both are very reliable, and very easy to clean. Great for home defense.

I was gonna go with a Glock originally, but it fit my hand all weird. The S&W was a perfect fit, thats why I decided to go with it. No regrets so far.

Smith and Wesson M&Ps are great guns. They're mostly used by police officers in the United States. A lot of places tend to issue them as the standard firearm for a reason. Their triggers are hard triggers, they don't fire unless they're pulled completely, which is why they're M&Ps. If you want a concealed carry that you can haul around and not have an accidental misfire, the Smith and Wesson M&P is the way to go

Contrary to what that guy says, don't get a M9 if that's what you're referring to. They're fun guns, but eh. There's better options in the market.

i suggest buying a brand new Glock 17, or a CZ 75 D PCR if you don't like the style of the Glock

both are just... so good

i've had my Glock 17 4th Gen for about 5 years and it's been wonderful to me

Honestly do some research and go to a gun store and handle the guns that fit into your criteria and purpose. That should help you decide or at least narrow down what you want.

I talked to one of my friends who knows more about guns and recommended S and W as well. Looking to go to a shop this week and try some out. I'll put S and W at the top of the list.
