I'm thinking about changing my legal name.

I was named after my grandfather, who was a dumb sack of shit, and a terrible racist.

My sack of shit father has expressed remorse for giving me this name, and part of me wants to keep it to spite him, but there's another part that wants to change it.

I don't know what I would change it to, but part of me wishes it was socially acceptable to go by the bizarre handles we use on the internet, and I kind of wouldn't mind being known as Sol irl.

If you could go by your username or online nickname to your irl colleagues, would you?

You should change it, but make sure it's something you're gonna be comfortable with for a long time. And I'm ok with my name, but I wouldn't mind changing it to one of my usernames.

Me and my SO call each other our online names still and I wouldn't have an issue still doing that. I'd probably get bored using the same name for everything though. I like having multiple depending on where I go.

Eh, I prefer my name rather than my username which was born out of it. As it is my nickname irl is "Irish" anyway so I'm nearly there.

It's weird having the same name as one of your grandparents (or higher relations), especially when they're dead. It's a tad creepy looking at my Grandad's grave when it says "Here lies Séamus"
