"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

He is rich, lives in Florida, drives a lambo, and is like seventeen. Now humor him.
He is also a cool guy, likes cars, doesn't see himself as rich even though he has wealth, and is overall a good member.

Indeed. I want to travel to other worlds.
If you think this place is boring, then what the hell do you think is going to be more exciting about nothing but rocks and sand?

The only stuff that happens is fucking depressing. Terrorists, an incredibly small science breakthrough that likely wont be utilised for decades, shit economy, shitty everything. Idiots sat in positions of power hampering real progress because 'wind farms don't look pretty' and stupid shit like that and just generally a world that isn't interesting. The things I find interesting I don't want to do because I'm forced to do it at school and the only way to get a job or university placement seems to be by doing things that are irrelevant to it. Call me up when we land a human on Mars or we develop Nuclear Fusion as a reliable power source. Fuck, even a nuclear war or zombie virus would be interesting as your concerns aren't menial shit like if your CV looks good, just food and water, just simple.

There's a reason I like writing science fiction. The world I'm creating is a world I want to experience. Because this one isn't.

We are in that moment in history that bridges in-between science fiction and science reality. It make take us a half a century or a bit more but these times will pass and we will hopefully make our way out of the cradle world and into the stars.

That's it. The thing that ultinately kills me is knowing that if/when we eventually begin building an interplanetary empire, I will not be around to see it. Or I will be too old to enjoy it.

And as a pessimist at heart, that's a big if in itself. My belief is that idiots holding civilisation back will be the ones that eventually mean overpopulation and the lack of renewable energy mean we eventually go to war and kill each other. That's my view on the world and why I always sound depressed all the time.

Have you ever read a series called Timeriders by Alex Scarrow? Probably not, but I believe they have a realistic vision of the world. Flooding gets rid of a lot of landmass, the survivors are crammed in cities so polluted that you need a gas mask to breathe and the few remaining governments are fitting each other for the last oil drops. In the series, NK ends up releasing a bioweapon virus that wipes out the entire planet.

There are terrorists, but there is also SAS and Delta Force slaughtering terrorists.
Gas is now $2.65 a gallon. Economy is saved.
Do you follow IFLScience? They typically post about numerous scientific breakthroughs and events every week. Science isn't quick, either.
Windfarms do kill a lot of birds, though.
Yes, that does suck huge dick.
Humans will be on Mars by mid-2030's according to NASA. Shit ain't cheap or quick to build and plan.
Pretty sure someone said they were getting close on Fusion.
If you want to fend for yourself and live in the wilds focusing on the bare necessities, then you can do that right now, believe it or not.

I'm a glass half full kind of person, but I can see the dangers that humanity can do to itself. But as the Cold War proved, humanity...no matter how dumb it can get sometimes, will never kill itself off. Even if all the bombs in the world were to be set off into all corners of the globe humanity would survive.

We are a persistent species, like roaches, we will find someway to rebuild from ashes. But hopefully that will never happen and we will make our leap.

We can do nuclear fusion now. It's just that it's pointless as the amount of energy we put into it is the same as we get out. The fusion we need would be more energy out than in. Also, I doubt about the Mars thing. The only reason NASA got so much funding is because America wanted to beat Russia to the moon. But with an underfunded space program I don't see it happening.

I also understand that there are groundbreaking science discoveries all the time. But the nature of science is that we don't make use of such discoveries for many decades afterwords. Even over a century after the lightbulb was invented and most of the planet is dark. It's cool saying we have these discoveries but when you likely won't be around to see them in use its heartbreaking, at least for someone like me who views science as the single most important thing we should be working towards.

you're pretty cool. lots of potential to become one of the GOAT members in bungie history.

in the nicest and least mean  way possible, you seek too much validation, not in a funny way but in a desperate way, if you get what i mean. like you need everyones approval or something. one way you could become GOAT worthy is doing funny stuff in real life and posting pics/vids/threads on it here, you have the means to.

The Cold War proved we were 20 seconds away from total annihilation were it not for a single ship. If one ship had continued its course, we wouldn't be here right now. And that was when resources were relatively abundant. If that situation happens again, it won't end well.

In a twisted way, I hope it happens so that I can have purpose, because I honestly feel like I don't really have a direction right now.

Well yeah, if the entire planet was glowing 24/7 plants would die and nobody would get enough sleep and light pollution sucks.
You won't live around to see them in use? Are you aware that the Wright brothers lived to see their rinky dinky design change to fighter jets that break the sound barrier and can reach altitudes higher than they imagined? That over the past century people have seen so much change, the invention of TV, Microwaves, Fully automatic compact weapons, more efficient and faster cars, the invention of fast food, computers, the freakin' internet. Those old generations dying now are seeing a world vastly different than it was in their youth. Don't fool yourself into think you won't see amazing things, because you will.

What's something you genuinely like or dislike about the world?

So much bullshit and not enough time for me to be on it (the world, not the bullshi- you know what, never mind)

One thing I like about the world is the shape, particularly the landmass. It's just iconic.

We are in that moment in history that bridges in-between science fiction and science reality. It make take us a half a century or a bit more but these times will pass and we will hopefully make our way out of the cradle world and into the stars.

Just give it time.

But it didn't happen. The sailors in those ships knew better.

I see that our clear opposite views will never agree.

Oh, hey.
It's always the people I don't know that make these threads.
He is rich, lives in Florida, drives a lambo, and is like seventeen. Now humor him.
