idk maybe I'm doing it wrong? I just trim then lather on shaving cream and go at it with the same kind of razor I use for my face.

Try going down, then side to side, and then up if you still have to.

Get a $10 trimmer at Target and just buzz it, don't shave. You will always get razor burn, and then it'll itch like hell. If you really want to do it and fight razor bumps, buy an alum block (shave stores or Amazon) and apply that, or liquid aftershave (which will feel terrible).
