People from other developed countries have no delusions about what living in the US would actually be like and how dead the "American dream" is. I was just surprised to see how hard it is to even get an entry level job there. I figured it would be about equal, but from the sound of it things are pretty fucked up. Tertiary education is relatively cheap so that many high school graduates will get some sort of a degree, and aside from that there's plenty of jobs available in labor or retail.
