How much does counseling cost without insurance?

Finding out the hard way that I'm a really toxic "friend". Being told by a lot of them that I need to go to counselling because I'm far to negative and bring others down with me.

Not sure where to go because I don't have insurance for mental problems so I'm basically fucked and was quoted around 80-100$ for every session from someone I know because I don't have insurance.

I'm in the US.

TL;DR: I'm suicidal and my friends can't handle me anymore.

The estimate you have there is pretty accurate. You could probably find some safe places on the internet to vent and get some advice but of course you'd be dealing with people who may not know what they're doing, and they even might do more harm than good. I've been seeing a psychiatrist for a few months now so if you have a question I would be happy to answer.

I think it depends a bit on the shrink, but it's not cheap in general unfortunately.

Online counselling is becoming more and more of a thing now, which I believe would cost less because they don't have to charge as much to cover the office/secretaries and the like so if you are a bit strapped for cash then the one I quickly googled was 28-40 per week, with some kind of netflix style plan (Yeah this is as weird to explain as it was to read) i.e you pay a flat fee and then have unlimited access for the duration of your 'plan'

It's an alternative, but I can't really say whether it will be of any use to you or not.

In the UK a private practice appointment is something like £60 for the one nearest to me, which is about $80/90 so I'm guessing it's kind of a standard looking fee <.<
