Do you prefer a physical cd or an mp3 file?

I prefer it, sort of.

MP3s are far more useful, but I prefer to get the CDs anyway because I hate buying digital content.

Buy something physical that comes with a digital ghost.

Agreed

I tend to buy a CD extract the music off of it then put the CD case on a viewing shelf.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
CD's aren't going extinct anytime within the decade or next. Lots of people still buy them.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become Mythic..
Now the new thing to have is "Vinyl" records.
We in the 50s again?

Anyways, yeah CD's are sticking around for awhile.

I prefer CDs for having a physical copy and for higher quality audio, but that's about it. I'll have a CD, rip the songs, and never use it again.

Digital is waaaaaayy better, for availability and ease of use. I'm still not a fan of pirating, but I've warmed up to it slightly, since I realized it's often too much of a hassle to get legal music from other countries. I think that says something about the incompetency of the music industry.

male, he/him

dracula can eat my whole ass!
Hopefully long enough to garner a solid collection of my own.

Nothing beats listening to an album on a long drive.

If I have a CD, I use it once to burn it onto my computer and then keep it as a backup in case I need to burn it again.

Back in the day before digital music became big, I would put CDs in the CD player and listen to it, but that isn't the case anymore.

I only buy entire orchestras,  you only have to refresh them every few generations once the inbreeding starts to affect the music quality.
