How do you treat technology?

Got my first cell phone at 16 cause I got a job to pay for it. It was a brick Nokia.
I remember the first christmas I got my own TV for my room. I believe I was 13.
Got an Xbox and Xbox live in 03. Before that I had a Gameboy and Playstation.

So, I had technology but nothing like these kids today where they have Iphones and Playstation 4's at age 6.

And yes, I think because my parents made me pay for my own stuff, I take much better care of it than other people. I've never broken a phone "knock on wood".

I grew up with an old PC in the house and I spent some time playing Sims 2 and roller coaster tycoon, so we weren't devoid.

My mom doesn't encourage my constant use of technology (gaming and being on the computer) but she doesn't have a real problem with it.

My dad likes to hoard old technology that is irrelevant in today's world.

He kept my old, fat PS2 that doesn't work anymore even though he knows 0 things about video games, he keeps all our old TVs that I just want to go leave in an alley somewhere, and he even kept our old Windows '98 and Windows XP computer towers.

If this world was like Fallout, I can totally see my dad as a guy that sells random junk to people that need it.
