What else is there? Take a trade, start a business, or get a job. Or become a criminal. I feel you on the fact that you didn’t ask to be born and be forced to make these decisions (or have them made for you), but what can you realistically do apart from killing yourself?
i don't necessarily believe in the concept of "worthless degrees" because having a degree at all actually did get my father a job he never would've gotten without it, once he actually got it (and he was in his 40s)
but it's things like this + having just the right number of intelligent and successful people give me just the right amount of encouragement, telling me personally that i should study whatever the fuck i want + me wanting an unrelenting desire to give a middle finger to the system that has resulted in me continuing to pursue this stupid english degree that has resulted in my current position where sometimes i'm overwhelmed by the sheer absurdity of it all, where i don't know whether to laugh or cry
