Yes he was placed in a shitty situation but the execution was shit

That scene wasn't that bad but it could've gone better
Like maybe develop the mother son relationship better
Not cut her out and randomly had her come back after one movie
Also, actually showing him kill the sand people would've been a major impact on the viewer
Maybe it's the PG 13 rating but it was a pivotal scene and needed something more than a cut away

But it is one of the better scenes in the trilogy

Still what about "I don't like sand" and "Now this is podracing!"

A couple of good scenes doesn't make him a good character

My only hope is that the new one ends up unifying the prequel fans and OT fans. So that even if we disagree on the prequel/OT stuff, we can still all agree that the new one is great/bad/however it's gonna be.

It has a 9.5 on IMDb right now, with 2000+ votes, so that's good.

Not a fan of the first two movies but I enjoyed the 3rd one a lot. I didn't like the 2nd one mainly for the love story. Honestly, 1st one isn't THAT bad to me. 2nd one if the only real one I "hate". I found the entire thing to just be boring and drowned in some political boring stuff, without any real sense of... danger I guess.

At least the first one had a build up to a massive battle, and the 3rd one obviously was connecting to 4. At the end of the day though, no one can really tell you not to love the prequel movies. They're movies.

I have a feeling episode 7 is so good because it's relying on a lot of fanservice from the original trilogy. Like, that doesn't mean it's bad, but I'm afraid they weren't bold enough to forge their own path on it.

I could be wrong though, but things like "Chewy... we're home!' kinda makes me think it'll do just that.

Still, there is only one huge battle scene and it's at the end of the movie and only for around 3 minutes at best. The only bad line I thought was in Star Wars 2 was

Listen, I get what Lucas was going for, but if you have to constantly make lines that say "I LOVE YOU!" then you're not doing the writing right. Saying "I love you" over and over again doesn't reinforce you love them that much more. Love is communicated in SOOOOO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS than just saying the fucking 3 letters.

You want an example of people falling in love perfectly? Watch Spice and Wolf. By the time the words "I love you" are uttered, it's not even that big of a deal because they've been in love with each other for a long time, but not in that typical "MAKE A MOVE ALREADY" crap you're so used to seeing.

This. The scene was going so well, and then 1:30 happened. See, the thing with Yoda is this.

He's an old Jedi. Super old. One of the oldest. He's wise, he's the leader, they look to him for guidance. He's a POWERFUL FUCKING JEDI who's done powerful things in his time, and he's done so much and lived so long, that he is wise and respected. That is FINE.

What ISN'T fine, is that for the last 3 movies (5, 6, and 1), he was portrayed as this old wise Jedi who was so in touch with The Force, you'd think he invented the damn thing. He was supposed to be slow, and wise.

So when that fight starts, sure it's fine. Yoda, LIKE DARTH FUCKING VADER, is insanely strong with The Force. Their mind is the strong suit to them, not the body hampering them down because of age or tech. So when Yoda leap frogs like a crack addict, it COMPLETELY breaks the character we've all known. If it was supposed to be surprising, then I don't approve of it. You don't establish a character for years and then suddenly make them more agile than even the most nimble Jedi.

If Darth Vader suddenly went from the walking tank he is, to Anakin in the prequels who jumps and flails, it'd not be intimidating AT ALL! It'd break the character they've established.

Darth Vader is so intimidating because of how slow and methodical he is. He could duel you with a light saber, but his force power was the main thing driving him. Same with Yoda. They fixed it somewhat in Episode 3, but he still jumped around a little. But it wasn't neeeeeearly as bad as it was in Episode 2.

Want another random example? Jason Voorhees running like an athlete in the Friday the 13th remake. It doesn't make sense right? He could hobble or limp really fast, but to make him run? No! Fuck off with that! You don't establish this slow murdering machine for decades and then decide "OI! NEW REMAKE! NEW TIMES!" and then have him suddenly running!
