Just a pretty American thing, I suppose. There's halloween themed stuff in stores and parties going on, but no trick or treating and the likes.

I don't consider Halloween to be "An American Thing" I consider it to be a time to enjoy being horrified and scare the living shit out of your friends and dress up as Death, a serial killer, or whatever your heart desires. It's the only excuse you get once a year to wear something that you wouldn't normally wear in broad daylight without looking like a total creep.
