Guns and Roses was the last epic rock band

I was talking to the owner of a punk label (he owns a record store in SD, and comes in to listen to music on Friday nights) and his thought is that GnR was the last truly epic rock band. He says from then its been a long slow slide in quality.

I dunno, but I agree.

They were amazing until Axl decided he wanted everything to be focused on him and to the other band members over. Then he became fat and now he's still getting butthurt over people fooling around in concert.

If it hadn't been for Axl's massive ego GNR would've still been relevant these days.

I can try. He offered me a bunch of LP's (on wax) from some bands that he signed a while ago. I might be able to score that. T-shirts will be a hard sell on him. Maybe some of the old play-bills. He's got a shitload of those.

They aren't. Overrated? Sure. But it doesn't take a genius to see what Jeff Mangum was really trying to express with his music. It's open, it's honest, it's sometimes upsetting, it's simple. No, they do not deserve the dickriding that they get from /mu/, but they are a great band with great lyrics and imagery, and nice but simple instrumentals.

They're certainly not as terrible as I like to pretend I think. But I still wouldn't say great. Good at best, alright at worst.
