The Turn A MG came out in 2007. The damn thing had incredibly loose/weak joints, parts that just fell off, and was an overall flimsy model that just fell apart when you looked at it.

Given the year it came out, it is a bit on the older side; but for also being technically a special release (Bandai’s 100th MG), this was a massive disappointment. Especially since the Turn A is my personal favorite.

I'm terrified of actually starting this kit. The RG can fully switch from Unicorn mode to Perfectibility Destroy mode.

So I put together the High grade Char's Zaku II. It's Char's signature Mobile Suit so I was pretty excited after getting the wrap off the box and all the gates. With that being said....

Both the head fin and the mouth piece are so flimsy, they fall right off; I'm going to need to get glue for just these two pieces. Wait no! I need to get glue for the hand to connect to the rifle because it broke off making the rifle completely useless, the weight of the rifle completely rips the two pieces of the hand apart, I can't use the bazooka now either so either Char's posing no weapon, or just the shitty axe.

Speaking of the axe, it doesn't fit properly in the side waist like it says in the manual (the previous HG Zaku Tristar I built earlier doesn't have this problem at all), I actually need to fit it in the butt in order for it fit anywhere "properly" even if that's not where that's supposed to go. I don't event know what's supposed to go in the buttocks slot. The bazooka has a holder slot on the backpack which is nice, but the rifle gets absolutely nothing similar even though there's so much free real estate on the other side of the back pack.

The arms stick out from the body pretty far and it's quite noticeable, but God forbid the head get's the same treatment. It's far more restricted in movement than the Tristar and they're basically the same Mobile Suit and model kit! Reading the manual step-by-step for both and you'll find very little that's different. I learned the head wasn't properly attached yet because it kept falling off and when I finally snapped it into place properly it can't even turn 90 degrees whereas I can get the Tristar to go full circle.

I just don't get how two extremely similar HGs can be so different in quality, especially with the signature/more famous MS being the problem child. I didn't even put any more stickers other than two on because I was so disappointed in this kit.

I actually liked this kit, but it was one of the earlier kits I bought. The RG Char's z'gok is really good though

I finally broke and pre-ordered this. Bullshit that it's P-Bandai, but I'm sure they'll use some of the molds again for a Silver Bullet or Doven Wolf

It looks great, it built great (save for the head), it feels great (save for the head). It's just that the articulation sucks, the parts are flimsy, and both of the advertised weapons are completely useless. I WANT to love this kit, especially since the Tristar blew away my expectations for HGs; but the time and effort to fix these issues are apparent.

Master Grade Freedom Gundam 2.0

I absolutely ADORE this kit. It was fun to build, it's fun to articulate, it's fun to pose, it's built like a brick, this thing is everything a Master Grade should be and more. Say what you want about SEED & SEED Destiny but their mobile suit designs are usually solid.

I picked up the HGUC Char's Zaku II Revive from Target. Like the HG RX-78-2, it's wonderfully colorful. I think I prefer it over the Origin Char's Zaku II, in part because of the original series charm it exudes (the bright colors are a big part of this) but also because it's less fiddly than its Origin counterpart.

I'm a little skeptical on preordering the Virtue simply because I had a preorder for the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 and I had to cancel it because it just straight up wasn't coming in.

I like Virtue the most out of all these but if the pre-order are that volatile I'd say go for one of the others. Don't you have an MG Strike Freedom? What does the full burst have different?

I think the Strike Freedom Full Burst a special edition, it’s definitely an older kit cause my brother had one back in 2010.

I'm currently building the RG Sazabi. From here on out I'm going to be devoting a little more effort to my gunpla kits than I have in the past. Instead of just panel lining, I plan to order waterslide decals (which I have plenty of experience with through Warhammer) for a few of my kits, and I'm going to use a matte varnish on my kits as well, as I have some Testors Dullcote lying around. Finally, I bought some Gundam Markers to paint some details, like the silver spots on the Sazabi.

On another note, one of the things I like about Gundam is seeing designs interpreted by different artists over the years. The Zaku II is a great example, with its various iterations differing in ways great and small. One of my favorite interpretations of the design is the Zaku from Thunderbolt. I love that the tubes/power cables and upper arms are covered with what resembles insulation tubing. It really helps sell it as a mass produced machine.

I don't think I updated you all yet; sorry if I mentioned it somewhere else. But I gave up trying to build the RG 78-GP01. I have never been more frustrated with building something before. I got the fighter block, upper waist, and legs finished while reaching the breaking point at the lower waist that caused me to quit. There was not any moment in those build times where I was really enjoying myself and I knew it was time to stop when I was feeling like I do when I'm at work trying to fix the sewing machines. This was all about a month ago.

There are so many small parts, more so than the Perfect Grade Exia, parts barely fit into where they were supposed to, nothing was staying in place, and the pre-made "Inner Frame" is a glorified polycap that doesn't feel like it was built to last at all. I am beyond heart broken because the GP01 while not being my all time favorite, was still the first Gundam toy I ever had as a kid before I even knew about the series and that toy was built like a brick (no idea whatever happened to it). I have no idea what other RG kits are like and has made me very torn on whether or not I even want to bother with the RG Eva Mark 06 that's coming out.
