I have a car 8 hours away but I'm not allowed to drive it until November next year, and same goes with driving another car with a trailer to pick it up. It isn't even that high performance of a car smh. Why couldn't Australia get the cool American age restrictions on driving instead of being allowed to drink and smoke at 18. I just wanna drift down the road from Forrest to Apollo bay and only get charged for 1 crime not 58

-Any Supercharged engine
-Any turbocharged engine

-any naturally aspirated engine that puts out more than ~180 hp per tonne (whole car weight).

I just wanna drive a single turbo 2.5L straight 6.

so you're tellin me that you couldn't drive the 78 Impala I use to own because of its anemic (140hp/245tq) 305 small block v8 but you could drive the passat I currently have with a 280 horse n/a vr6 because it's a heavy wagon at 1.75 tones making the power to weight 160horse per ton and thus under the 180 limit?

There's probably also a max power limit in there somewhere to stop people from performance tuning natty XR6s to crazy levels and slapping a slab of concrete in the boot to even up the ratio, but pretty much yeah.

Straight up, you could make an 8 cyl from Briggs & Stratton motors that puts out fucking 40 hp and slap it in my Corolla (surprisingly even less power than the terminally ill 4A-LC in it right now) and I wouldn't be allowed to drive it.

I think the UK laws on driving are a bit mad. Not Finland mad, but you need a license for any form of bike, trailer, minibus, etc... basically anything that isn't a 5/7 seat car.

Meanwhile, my Dad has his license since the 90's and the day after he passed he drove a 2-ton truck down the M25 to London, and his license covers practically everything short of operating a tank.
