I'm inclined to agree, but only in certain circumstances, such as if you're facing terminal cancer or some other situation where you're dead regardless. Dying on your own terms, if you will.

Lost a loved one? Bullied at school? Lost your high-paying job? That's awful, just not to the point that suicide is at all warranted. That's blowing the situation completely out of proportion. It's caving under pressure that, quite frankly, so many others never buckled to.

I don't think it's brave or cowardly.

When someone does it they've given up all hope for everything.

I knew someone before they killed them self.

They wouldn't talk for a year because they were just so depressed, and when I did once did hear them say something, they just said they felt broken.

So it's not brave, nor is it cowardly, it's just them feeling like shit.
