Any of you have this reactions with your body when you're dreaming?

When I'm laying down with my eyes closed I get to the point where I'm unconscious but at the same time still aware. Sometimes I get a dream where I'm walking and I step on paper and I slip. My body ends up reacting to it by having my feet kick out like I slipped or I try to brace. Any of you experience anything like this?

yesterday I was having a dream(in the same almost sleep state you described) that someone threw a water balloon at my face and right before the moment of impact I flinched super hard and woke up

It's funny that you bring this up.

Just last night, I was drifting off to sleep and I imagined I was getting a glass of water from my kitchen when I slipped on an ice cube.

Jolted me right awake despite the fact that in real life I have perfect traction and balance and can negotiate ice cube laden floors without difficulty.
