Great action and dialog, a much larger focus on character development, the plot significantly advanced the infinity gems story, it felt cohesive and believable rather than some of the contrived fights from the first movie, and the characters really worked well together. It was an incredible movie, and critics' reviews should have no bearing on your own enjoyment.

It was great. My only complaints would be that I don't think this movie should had to set up half the movies in phase 3 and I thought they went a little overboard with the humor in this one, but maybe that was just due to the atmosphere of the Thursday night premiere crowd. I'd like to see it again and see if it's still a problem. I loved everything else so overall I'd probably rate it a 8/10.

I personally wouldn't rate it that low but I can understand people's dissatisfaction with it. Part of the first movie's charm is that it had done something with superhero characters it had never done before, which made it all the more interesting to watch. In AoU it kind of feels obligatory at this point.

It's not a bad movie, just not really great.

like really. they cant come up with a decent villain or a conflict that actually feels important. characterization is lost beyond basic interactions. it's a gilded turd. pretty to look at, nothing worthwhile underneath.

I didn't like the first Avengers but I liked this one. I like that it follows the tone set by The Winter Soldier.
