When there are apps made for the OS and if you use a touchscreen laptop. Honestly, it's solid. Apps are nice to have and the UI is fast and easy to use after a few minutes of your time.

I got a new laptop a couple months back that had Windows 8.1. I thought I'd hate it but it really isn't that bad. I haven't had to use Metro at all. Only problem is a BSOD that my laptop gets that doesn't seem to be present on Windows 7 versions of my laptop.

EDIT: my laptop is non touchscreen also

Dunno, but since I updated to 8.1 my browsers hardly work, and it killed my battery. Literally it killed my battery, it doesn't hold a charge anymore and my laptop isn't even a month old.

It's possible to use it without touchscreen, you just need to know shortcuts.

I've used Windows 8 for a while to see if I would come around. No success. Downgraded (upgraded is a more appropriate term) to Windows 7 again.
