Probably used to AAA Mainstream jump scare movies. I appreciate movies like this and Mama for not needing over the top gore or a jump-scare every 3 minutes and instead rely on good ol' fear tactics.

I liked it, it was pretty good. however some parts were really cheesy. Like the of the babadook and the kids acting.

I really would have rather had it to where when the kid had his mom pinned down on the ground that she would have killed him or perhaps the kid killing his mother with one of those weapons of his. The movie did a good job of representing the Babadook as the mom finally just losing it and really should have ended on a somber note of one of the two of them dying. That whole her screaming at him "you're trespassing" shit for him to go into the basement and get fed worms shit was just weird and felt like it killed some of the quality of an overall great horror movie.

Yeah, that ending was just as strange as Mama's ending. The rest of the movie made up for it though.

I just watched it a few hours ago, tried to sleep, had nightmares and now I'm at work. I watch a lot of scary movies and The Babadook was the first in a long time to actually give me nightmares.

It started off well, but as soon as it called her on the phone I knew the rest was going to be retarded. I hate movie cliches and it completely destroyed the atmosphere.

Yeah at the beginning, but towards the end he was a sly mother fucker!
He tricked his mother into believing that he swallowed his tranquilizer, shot his mom in the arm with a dart, hit her in the head with the cricket ball out of a back pack catapult, and straps her in the thigh with a butcher knife.

Oh not to mention he devised a trap and tied up his mother to retrain her.

That was one bad ass kid.
