You ever do a group project and you feel like you're the only one who has any remote idea you know what you're doing? Because I've had one fucking partner here ask THREE GOD DAMN TIMES NOW what the fuck she needs to be doing (I'm convinced this girl is legit fucking slow) when we discussed TWICE IN CLASS TOGETHER what we're supposed to be doing. The last time being on class last Wednesday and we each detailed the SPECIFIC thing we're supposed to be doing.

It's an assignment for English where we each take a political cartoon on a subject (we chose medical prices and how they're too high). Two for, two against. Obviously one side is harder than the other since universal consensus is it's over priced, so finding cartoons is a bitch as well as writing about it. Naturally I take the harder one because I don't trust other people to.

Anyway, this is due Monday, and this girl asks again, today, what she's supposed to be doing, WHEN WE MADE IT CLEAR TO UPLOAD IMAGES BY WEDNESDAY of this week. Unsurprisingly, I'm the only one who fucking did that.

By this point I just sent a message that basically said "listen, since this isn't working out, just submit your paragraphs for each of your cartoons and I'll throw it together with mine to make it mesh well as a paper, and re-upload so you can all read so we know what we're gonna be talking about."

and urged them to bring their cartoons to class on Monday because we need to.

TL;DR - my partners are incompetent, especially one slow bitch who asked again what she's supposed to be doing when we explained TWO FUCKING TIMES, and don't follow deadlines. I feel I have to try and pull everything together (as usual) or we might possibly fail, and once again that annoyingly leaves me doing most of the work I feel.

But I don't trust anyone else doing that in the first place anyway.

I'm a bit annoyed at it all so I have to share and hear thoughts. Sorry.

Back when I was still doing college I would drop a class where the teacher grades us individually as a group. I'd ask the teacher on the first day how group projects are graded if I saw it on the schedule/syllabus and if there answer wasn't "I grade you individually for the work you put into the group" I would drop the class right then and there, literally walk out before everyone was seated.

Only had to drop two out of the five or six times I asked.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Once towards the end of my education I had a high school science teacher actually tell me something along the lines of "No, you need to get with a different group. These individuals actually need to learn something on their own."

It was at that moment that it clicked with me why some basic bitch with a possible coke habit and her really fat and ugly female childhood friend that was totally jealous and bitchy about the previously mentioned basic bitch's skeletal figure, and sometimes their one metrosexual looking skater boi friend always wanted to pair up with me.

In group projects I always try to motivate the group. I find this is best done in person.

You seem to already have a grasp of everybody's role, so now you need to take charge and enforce it.

Schedule time to work as a group outside of class, and see to it that everybody is busy.

Reprimand those not working at these meetings and give positive reinforcement to those who do.

If somebody really doesn't play ball even after all that, then take the working members of your group to your professor and let them know that you're having trouble with that person.

That's great advice. Issue is it's due Monday. If I don't get what I need by 4pm Sunday, I'm gonna email my teacher and give her the run down.

Get used to it all through life. Somebody's gotta carry all the heavy shit and everybody'll dissappear when the time comes to do it. Who gets to do the heavy lifting? You do!

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Just tell your teacher not to give them any credit. That's what I did and it usually worked out for me. I wasn't gonna fail because of someone else.

Group projects are fucking dumb, and they keep saying you need this for the working world, I work in groups at work almost all the time and manage a lot in work, the difference is people at work do it because they need to, in college its always that one lazy person, or sometimes the rest of the group.

Luckily, I had a decent group yesterday, because it was all of my friends. I have 6 weeks of group work, 6, and it's not get a group and work for 6 weeks, it's 1 week I'm with 1 group, the next all the groups swap around for 6 weeks.

gg no re, good luck with this, you've already told me what to do when this happens

If you know, you know.
There is so much truth to the saying "If you want anything done right, do it yourself."
Even outside of college, you will learn to rely on no one but yourself.

I love you, son.
Group projects are a bitch, as other people have said you should go to the professor.

Currently in a group project for software development and there's one member of my group who has done little to no coding, doesn't turn up to 70% of group meetings and is always late with the work that we do give him, something we've made him well aware of. Fortunately at the end of the project we give contribution weights for each member of the group that reflect the overall work done since the beginning of the year, so we can just give him a small one if it continues and it'll have a pretty nasty impact on his mark.

Yeah but they're teachers/professors, they don't work in the real world so they either don't give a shit about how group projects don't reflect the real world or don't actually know that it's different.

Teachers and professors have to know how much people hate these, right?

Do a better subject. Or if it's unavoidable document EVERYTHING your group does. Then it will be obvious who has done what. Apply yourself

My Professor didn't want to do this unit, or at least not have it in groups, but she has to.

They say you are what you eat, but I don't remember eating mYsELF
From my experience with group projects, there needs to be someone who's at the head of it all and knows exactly how everything comes together, and they delegate the work to everyone.
We did this last semester, we all had a small part of the project to work on and then one lad put the whole thing (an analog synthesiser) together.
