I actually didn't think his back story was tragic and well done, and the Clone Wars 2003 makes him more badass. It's a shame they dumped him down in the new Clone Wars CGI.

Its weird that he has an easy time with obi-wan but has hard times killing other jedi (yes i'm talking about the CGI Clone Wars)

Partially, a robot is basically following orders without questions, a cyborg may look robotic but he has a brain, he can think,   he can choose what he wants to do, Robo-Cop is a good example. Yes he started off as being a robot but in time he started to change and fine out who he really is.
