I still can't wrap my mind around what they're doing with Dorne. GRRM spent the entire goddamn fifth book establishing Dorne's plan, showing the Sand Snakes' growth and eventual acceptance and respect for Doran, and all of that's gone. And Areo Hotah kills exactly zero people in the show. Such a waste of plot and characters.

It's been a while since I read the book, but isn't the premise that they're a mix of nobles/peasants that just want revenge for their father and don't really know the politics of Dorne very well? And only Obara is supposed to be a warrior, right?

Basically. They'd run Dorne into the ground if they were given any inkling of power. I think one of them is slightly more politically astute than the others but she's essentially been omitted from the show.

I was braced for what was going to happen when the spoilers leaked but they completely exceeded my expectations by making the guards, and presumably the rest of Dorne, ok with it. Just the sheer illogic that the writing has come to. You're telling me that guards who aren't in on the plan, that are hired to protect Doran and work for Areo, aren't even going to flinch at both of them being murdered right in front of them? All because Doran doesn't start a war he can't win against the Lannisters in some petty revenge plot that would benefit no one?
