Not a fan of the national anthem, or really any for that matter. They just remind me of our society's supposed obligation to be proud of your nationality when it's absolutely nothing you have any control over and nothing you've ever had to work to achieve. Which seems just a bit foolish in my eyes.

No one in Britain really gives a shit (or at least not to the same extent) like America does.

I blame the fact that our history classes see to focus on pretty much every part of the world that isn't Britain - they absolutely love nazis and africa slavery but we never get the really cool stuff like the Wars of Roses, 1066, Unification, Romans, Principalities of Wales and British Empire and the World Wars (pretty much any coverage of WWII is almost entirely on the civilian aspect of it aka people hiding in subway tunnels in London). If you wanna learn about that shit you have to look it up yourself.

They only teach the English one in schools and it's sorta unique to have two to chose from.

Turns out (after some wiki perusing), I don't know the Anthem. Everyone knows the rugby one (Ireland's Call), but the official one is Soldier's Song, something they don't tell you about at school.

Respect and pride are not inherently connected to each other directly. I can respect the accomplishments of forebears, but I don't have to be proud of something absolutely out of my power.

This isn't abut my view on nations, it about my view on pride itself. Nationalism just so happens to have a great deal of pride involved in it. I haven't expressed enough for you to accurately equate my beliefs with "the death of western society."

The only time I've ever heard the British national anthem is at futbol matches on tv.

When a crowd sings it just sounds like gasping to me, so I've never actually learnt the words.

Plus I doubt the the fans or players know it themselves either. They don't even know that many words, since they're all degenerates.
