Am I playing the game incorrectly? I feel like I'm not doing what everyone else is doing. As long as I'm not breaking any rules.

also, when it's an acronym, and you want to signal plural, do you use an apostrophe?

When it's an acronym put it in parenthesis the first time. Here's and example: German Secret Police (GSP)
From now on I use GSP. See?
I haven't read over all of your stuff but basically if it feels natural then it should be ok. Like annexing a country with a minimal amount of people should take a long ass time etc.
