it looks fucking hilarious so i'll have to see it at some point
I’ll watch it for free
It's tempting, but I dunno if I want to pay for it
I watched it today. Couldn't take it seriously at all, and after a couple of minutes I told myself that Eddie, Venom and Elon Musk were all autistic and it became much better after that. It's just a couple of autistic guys going at it.

It's just a couple of autistic guys going at it.It's impossible to take seriously. It feels like a parody movie. At least 5 times during my viewing yesterday my brothers turned to me to be like "Why is he acting like that?/Is he drunk?"The post-credits reveal is the highlight of the film, IMO. Just a hilarious setup and casting choice on that one. It's probably my most anticipated superhero film right now.
Watch it so they don't cancel the Kraven or Screwball movies.

Also, slightly upset at how they fucked up Eddie's character almost immediately. I liked what they had going up until SpoilerHe goes to his ex-fiance's house and she tells him that everything was his fault. If they had used his anger against the Life Foundation/Drake as a Spidey-lite substitute I would have 100% been on board. Instead, he becomes a spastic mess and hostage hero by Venom (another thing that annoyed me) so that he's a more palatable "good guy" character. They even end on the angle that he does literally eats bad guys (which nobody ever really reacts to, because everyone in the film is on Zoloft or some shit). He's made out to be the anti-hero, why not let him BE an anti-hero?SpoilerAt least Venom was a doofus, which they also ruined by having Venom describe himself as "a bit of a loser on his planet" which takes a lot of the terror out of him. I know carnage is stronger than him, but by dropping the bar so low with Venom it's not going to be much of a surprise when he gets his ass kicked.

Just when I thought the movie couldn't get any better, they hit you with that godsend of a casting choice.
