But today we get to see the real-life embodiment of that sentiment.Meet Sarah Hudek, a senior at George Ranch High School outside Houston who will make history today when she officially accepts a baseball scholarship to play at Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana. The daughter of former MLB pitcher John Hudek, the 5-foot-10 lefty throws around 82 mph, or, per her future coach Aaron Vorachek in an interview with USA Today, “as good, or better, than most boys around here.”Hudek, who will become the first woman to play on the school’s baseball team and one of the first women ever to play at the college level, was named the USA Baseball Sportswoman of the Year in December for her dominance in the in the 2014 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup. Hudek has been playing with her current high school teammates since their Little League days.
