tl;dr: There will be a new Ghost in the Shell series produced based in the Arise continuity. Also, the new animated Ghost in the Shell movie (not the one starring Scarlett Johansson) will take place in the Arise continuity as well. Yay, new GITS!

GITS:SAC is god tier. the manga and movies (also the Arise OVAs) are also incredible

it's pretty easy to digest. both SAC and SAC: 2nd GIG (the 2nd season) have less than 30 episodes each iirc
