the gendry hype died for me after i had to sit through the god awful writing in Winterfell. i was mad when i read the spoilers, i had hoped they werent true.

So what exactly is the problem in Winterfell? There's wasn't too much going on there besides Littlefinger trying to turn Sansa and Arya against each other. I suppose I just don't nitpick at stuff like some people. I don't watch TV really, because there's nothing interesting on there. This show is better than 90% of the shit on TV. I can't really complain.

What purpose does the guy have this season besides trying to turn Arya and Sansa against each other which is going to fail? Either in the next or episode 7, Arya is going to confront Sansa about the letter and she's going to tell Arya the truth about it. Once that happens Little finger is going to be executed in episode 7 so his sister against sister scheme is going to be a waste of our time. Unless the Vale abandons the Starks because of his execution, his whole character in this season was nothing more than shitty and pointless written to get rid of him.

That seems to be exactly the case. The most clever, cautious character in the show is going to get bested by fucking Sansa and Arya. His plan is so shitty, I don't think it warrants execution, even in this show. And what hurts the most is you know he's going to go down like a bitch, cowering and everybody's going to be happy about it.

Littlefinger went from being the mastermind of most of the conflicts in westeros to lamely playing mind games with two teenage girls.

I imagine GRRM gave the writers bulleted lists of plot points, rather than entire sections of the book, so now that they're out of source material, the writing and pacing are just complete garbage. Half the script is throwaway quips or references to memes ("I thought you may still be rowing" fuuuuuuuck off).

I thought it was odd that Bron was able to drag Jamie coated in lead weights across ~200m of lake underwater to "safety", and still have enough air to continue a run-of-the-mill non-chalant conversation about the dragon and getting paid. And still, the dragon could'a just leapfrogged over the lake and finished em off before heading over to turn some prisoners to ashes.

That's essentially what it is. They said Season 7 and Season 8 are only outlines of The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. Of course I expect it to be mostly the same as far as key events go. We'll just have more detail. Probably many conversations during traveling that we didn't get in the show since that's all but nearly cut out now. And of course the different characters that aren't even in the show anymore or never were like Victarion, Ser Barristan, and Young Griff. Speaking of him. I really hope we see Storm's End next season.

Nothing about her character makes sense. GRRM's note probably said "Arya and Sansa have a fight" and they just started making shit up.

My thoughts are Arya doesn't like seeing everyone questioning Jon. It kinda even seems to me Arya was worried Sansa would rather be ruling herself instead of Jon. And she obviously doesn't trust Littlefinger. Seeing that note last night would obviously make Arya mad too. So she'll confront Sansa about it.

The show has almost certainly stopped following whatever information they got from George. There will probably some throwaway similarities (Hodor meaning "hold the door" but differing in context and how it happens) but it's complete fan fiction for the most part.

Well that's what I've read. The hold the door thing will happen in the books. But probably in a different context. Shireeen is sacrificed. But probably not how it happened in the show. I'm sure interested to see if Ramsy will be the one to finish off Stannis and his army in the books though. I guess the CoTF created the Others. We'll have to see about that. And I highly doubt they'll change the ending that much from the books. But we shall see. Like others have said. The destinations are the same, it's the journey to them that's different.
