I know your pain Meta, I had to do cart pushing at Wal-Mart for 3 fucking years.  Last year we had an awful snowstorm that ended up freezing the metal carts onto the metal cart corrals (or, mini-bays) and the cart pusher wouldn't even fucking go anywhere because of the snow and ice.

I opened that entire time, and my friend/co-worker, who was the second opener, kept calling out because he said he couldn't get out of his own driveway (mind you this mother fucker lives closer to town than I do.  I live out in the country and I still made it to work, despite sliding on the ice a few times).  My managers kept harassing me and giving me shit about the situation, because I could only hand-push 5 carts at a time.  And this was Wal-mart during the holidays, so use your imagination on how busy it was.

I almost quit until my manager promised me a promotion (which didn't happen until I fought for it RIGHT before summer started.)

Two weeks ago I signed up for a concrete job. I told the boss I had only done this once before and I'd be rusty. Long story short, I ended up being the only guy apart from the concrete dude calling the shots who knew what he was doing. So, I basically did the work of three people alone.

I hate concrete work.

There was a fire alarm today because the bakery bellends somehow managed to set a box on fire. That was pretty entertaining for 45 minutes

It's not really stressful, but it gets pretty boring after a couple hours. It's shit working weekends because there's always underage twats that try to get their grannies/mums to buy them alcohol, so according to the law I have to challenge them for ID, and they ALWAYS give me shit for it.

Hey, my first job was bagging groceries and bringing in the carts [trollies] to the corrals. It kinda sucked because it's so damn hot in AZ but it was a good workout and we got a lot of independence.

Because McDonald's isn't worse than pushing carts.

I work in a grocery store as a "utility clerk" which means that I take carts in, clean up spills and the bathrooms, and bag people's groceries. I actually enjoy my job. 

I work at a grocery store that pretty much is busy 24/7. Im lucky that since being in meat department I can hide for a bit in my cooler or the back room.

Well I got this store manager that is pretty much the poster child for passive/aggressive. She will also hold a grudge at you for the god damn smallest thing. I dont make a sign for her due to working on my Dept. and dear god I get belittled by her and treated like shit for weeks at a time. Also she screams at us for the smallest shit like having a fucking spot empty when we are fucking filling it up as she speaks.

The worst part is that we are always busy no matter what. Im always behind on something and we never have any decent help. Always send some bag boy that doesnt have the slightest clue what to do. We train them, do all the paper work, give them hours that cut into our and this shit is gonna surprise. They say "I cant do this, its too hard" bitch all you do is fill stuff up and help people on the counter. Its not like you have to do any ordering or paperwork.

Then the customers that are either 50/50. Either a decent human being or a complete sack of fucking shit that should be exterminated with extreme prejudice and no fucking mercy.

I have people hug me, tell me thank you or just good people. Then the other assholes that tell me I dont do my job right, try to get food cheaper by telling me "oh this looks bad so can you mark this down". I just put that out there like 4 minutes ago. The oxygen hasn't even turned the meat red yet. Fat land whales breathing so hard I can hear them breathing complaining that the meat isn't cut thick enough and she is angry. That she should get a thicker piece cut and get for free. Fuck you hambeast.

Or the assholes that fuck with you for fucks sake. They make you go through all these hoops just to fuck with me. They leave smiling after I do everything they ask, greeted with a genuine smile, just to get it exactly at 1.33 pounds.  Oh If I fuck up and get it somewhat close they laugh at me but since Ive been doing this so long. I get it to 1.33 every time, they get pissed at me and yank the package of meat they order out of my hand.

What I wouldnt give to lock them in a house and watch them burn. Just listen to their cries and screams. I used to be a nice person. Working in retail and customer service kills you inside.
