Why do you think that? It has some stuff from the 5th book I think. But it's mostly moving the plot forward. If anything there is no filler. They cut out so much. It took them like 2 entire seasons to cover the 1st book. Season 5 was basically all there was to the 5th book. Most of this is new material/given to the creators from George, since a lot of this stuff isn't explained in the books yet. He'll have Winds of Winter out one day.

I only await the Days of Tears when this TV show before books thing really starts to come apart. It's like the story found its true medium and now like a parasite it's leaving the host behind. Serves Martin right for continuing on with it all these years... wasting paper.

A bit late on this. But the creators of the show have also said after this season there's more than likely only going to be 13 episodes left. 7 for Season 7 and 6 for Season 8. Compared to the usual 10 per season. So I could be wrong, but this season should advance the plot forward quite a bit. There's a lot in these trailers that aren't in the books yet. Hopefully Winds of Winter will be out this year. Who knows. But the fact that the potential last 3 books aren't out means there's less to film on. Martin told them the essential points and they'll go from there.
