Just curious, did you prefer TDK or BB?

The Dark Knight obviously had the better villain and more memorable moments, but I feel like Batman Begins had a more interesting overall aesthetic and did more things with the time it had than TDK. i
In BB, Gotham is very gothic and noir-like, but in TDK it's just kind of a typical big city with noir elements.

TDK is my favorite superhero movie of all time. I thought Begins was okay, but origin stories have always kinda bored me--especially Batman's, because we've already seen it so many times. In terms of themes, it had some, but there wasn't a whole lot for me to chew. It's literally just the old Batman setup movie we've already seen.

TDK, on the other hand, is so damn good that, to me, it transcends the superhero genre. I've talked about this before. The themes go ten times deeper than just a couple of costumed guys chasing each other around in New York. The Joker was brilliant, of course--he steals every scene he's in--but honestly, I think people vastly overrate him.

Personally, I always preferred Harvey Two-Face's character. He's a lot more interesting to me when you look at his whole tragedy, the way he's written, and his view of things like justice, fairness, and morality towards the end of the movie have always struck a serious chord with me. "It's not about what I want--It's about what's fair!" It's heartwrenching, and you really feel his anguish, even though you don't condone his actions at all.

And yeah, people like to make fun of his coin gimmick, but c'mon--when has a coin flip ever been so threatening?

Without sounding too pretentious, it's the closest thing to "cinema" that a superhero movie has ever gotten, imo.
