BY CHLOI RADThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) may raise the speeds that qualify as broadband internet. The proposed increase comes as part of the Congress-mandated Annual Broadband Progress Report. According to Ars Technica, the FCC "finds that broadband is not being deployed to all Americans in a reasonable and timely fashion, especially in rural areas, on Tribal lands, and in US Territories."Raising the standard of broadband to the suggested 25Mbps download/3Mbps upload speeds would be quite a jump from last month's ruling, which stated all internet service providers receiving Connect America funds must offer speeds of at least 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
I don't know what this means...but I'm going to to assume it's going to be hype, right?
