Quote from: AutisticComputer on October 02, 2015, 04:49:28 PMEven if it doesn't accomplish much how does that mean that living can't be a great experience? Also, how does a lot of what we do perpetuate suffering? There's nothing we do that isn't at the cost of another life's suffering, from the food you eat down to the clothes you wear.Living can be a great experience only for those of us who are fortunate enough to be born with good parents in a good neighborhood. Most people are born in poverty.
Even if it doesn't accomplish much how does that mean that living can't be a great experience? Also, how does a lot of what we do perpetuate suffering?
Then I guess that's why I like life then. I've lived with a good group of people for my whole life in a good town.

You like your life--you wouldn't like most other people's lives. Especially with the knowledge you have now.

Sorry. If you could dig up the response for me, that would be nice. You don't have to though.Quote from: AutisticComputer on October 02, 2015, 04:37:55 PMHow is all existence suffering? From my point of view we are blessed to be self aware creatures on this beautiful planet which is only a grain of sand on an infinite beach. Life can be cruel, arbitrary and chaotic at times but the advantages of being alive and being able to observe the world around you are better than not having the chance to. At least that's just my opinion. I never said all existence was suffering--I just think it's outweighed by suffering. Much of what we do here doesn't really accomplish anything, and SO much of what we do just perpetuates suffering, without us realizing it. The meat industry is a good example. So yeah, sorry, I don't really see the beauty, to be honest.

if anybody actually believes that they're somehow superior to someone else because they have experience with drugs, then they're missing the point entirely.
like winy said, altering your consciousness via drugs is an experience that, while there are risks associated with it, brings tangible, positive outcomes that sometimes could not be possible through a sober approach. one example of this is alleviating depression and increasing one's overall well-being through a psyilocybin trip.
in my opinion, i think people who live a life of sobriety are simply missing out on some of the wonders that life has to offer, but i don't think any less of them as a person.
however, i believe that if you can safely consume a drug and have your life return to normal once the drug's effects have faded, it is worth the risk. just like how it is worth the risk to go skydiving, ride a rollercoaster, or any similar thrill-seeking activity. there are risks with every decision you make, and if someone can rationally lay out the positives and negatives, and find more weight in the positives, then they have made an informed decision and are being responsible. that's where moderation comes into play.
You don't see the beauty? Are you blind?

That is nature. Nature is both beautiful and ugly.

How is it not beautiful? I see the beauty of nature all the time.

When you get down to it, nature is neither beautiful or ugly. It's just an assembly of atoms and energy. Nothing more.

Well, I believe there was a misunderstanding, then. The beauty is merely a product of our perception. Looking at it from the perspective of, say, a worm, this beauty is nonexistent. So I suppose the only beauty in nature is our amazing brains.

They're less visual than people would have you believe, as the only change there is really that everything seems brighter since your pupils dilate. Dabs really just seem like a shittier version of acid tbh because they're less "floaty" if that makes sense.Though on the flip side, I think the most fun I've had would be, ironically, when I was on dabs, since it was me and six of my closest friends all hanging out in a condo with a bunch of food and shit. It was a pretty nice experience.

Yeah there were a ton of lights and stuff, but textures moved, faces distorted, and everything generally looked and felt more intense. Tho if you're talking about seeing spiders and shit like that, yeah, that doesn't happen. Dabs aren't anything like acid, though. I've dabbed dozens of times. It's just like smoking a fuckton of weed.

It was a pretty nice experience.that's weird, when i dropped acid i was experiencing some very intense, geometrical visuals, as well as seeing everything as brighter and more vivid. granted, i dropped one tab on the beach with some close friends at like 2 in the afternoon, so being around all of that nature could have enhanced my visuals greatly. i'm surprised you lump in dabs and acid as similar substances, though, because dabs are just concentrated THC and the same high you'd get from most weed. my friend makes his own oil so i have a decent amount of experience with that....but i still consider my acid trip on the beach to be one of the most profound experiences of my life, i learned so much about myself and the world around me that day it's crazy. something that i would never take back for the world.
