Oh, how could I forget those weird-ass dreams I had just after my surgery last year. I can't remember the specifics, but they were shockingly realistic, more like hallucinations than dreams. This one "dream" made me wake up freaking out and pissing in the bed. Not fun when the slightest movement caused my back to hurt. After I dropped some of the painkillers that were supposedly the cause of it, the "dreams" became less unnerving and more...lucid. At one point, it was like I was half awake and half asleep, aware of my position in reality and my dream at the same time. I'm positive it had something to do with my pain. Odd, but it was nice since I had control of my dreams. Eventually, I lost this lucid dreaming ability after the pain began to subside. I miss it sometimes.

Ah I do enjoy lucid dreaming <.<

I used to be quite good at it but lately I can never be bothered to really interact with or shape my dreams and I lost the knack for it I think. I could probably start doing so again but ehhhh >_>
I find watching a film when I sleep more interesting than putting the effort into creating something myself lol.

Try pain, it seemed to have helped me.

I've had enough of that in the last two years to last a lifetime <_<
I think I'll pass lol >.>

The tablets I'm on are actually conducive to lucid dreaming (Side effect) but as I said it requires effort that I don't like to give at night lol >.>

Rockets on my X
I think for the sake of fun, I'm going to describe the spoopy place from my nightmare.

It rests in a desert, filled with ancient ruins, buried under sand. It stands out to any who live there, and all who live there, know it as The Shard. It's a dark, jagged rock formation that looks like a thorn. Dark, imposing rock that's unsettling to those who look at it, and imposing.

The closer one gets to the shard, the more the sand starts to dissappear and smaller jagged formations of the same dark stony material show up. The sand blows over the shard, and either through erosion or something else, the shard is carved with passageways.

Some are dead ends. Others lead through it for miles, connecting to more maze like passages. Some actually go deeper into the shard, going beneath the sand. But the real threat is inside. When close to the shard, or inside, it starts to warp reality.

A person inside of it will suddenly find themselves in other places, other times. And they become invested in these fake constructs. But always, in every one, a scenario plays out. The people in every apparition are dead. They appear alive, but they're hollow. Dead emotionless eyes. And smiles. Smiles and laughter that that sounds out when the person invested in the construct is in trouble.

It starts slowly at first, a bump, or a push, an argument. And then it gets violent. In these apparitions, the shard warps the mind of the traveler, and they come under attack from these dead occupants, who all act, laugh, and stare in unison.

The longer you stay, the more the shard twists things, and the very rock above you seems to veer down over you, trying to trap you. You become invested in the construct, and then reality shatters as the occupants turn on you, laugh at you with dead eyes and hollow smiles, and then attack you, in increasing bouts of insanity.

Point is, people who go into the shard, don't come back out.

I can't imagine that being a pleasant dream .-.
Thanks for sharing though, it's very vivid >.>

Fucking sucked ass dude. I had that when I was in the hospital. The parts that I remember the most are the sand, the fucking creepy as shit rock and stone, and of course, getting attacked by people with hollow eyes with smiles akin to the joker.

I sometimes draw what I see during the night whilst awake, if that helps. I tend to have hallucinations at times...

I was tortured by recurring night terrors as a child. They've stopped, but I still have really bad nightmares any time any part of my body (besides my head) remains uncovered while I slumber.

I don't know why I can control my nightmares. It kinda freaks me out.

Sangheili anatomy? The Flood influenced me to. It seemed as if they have never visited the internet after taking a gander at a half exposed alien.

I had a similar problem with recurring dreams, and I also dealt with them by learning to control them <.<
I suppose the dream control would fall under lucid dreaming, can you control normal dreams too?

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
I seem to have lots of dreams about Floodians

No, only people I'm close friends with on the Flood.

Same, most of my dreams have consisted of brutally torturing people here and laughing as they beg for mercy.

any recurring themes
Dreams where my teeth fall out of my mouth are really common. Also in almost all my dreams I'm female for some reason.

I hate teeth dreams.

The first one I had about a year ago and it was particularly unpleasant, the most recent one was a week ago and it was just as horrific.

I wouldn't go so far as to say my control over my nightmares qualities as lucid dreaming- I don't retain power within the nightmare, I just know how to avoid it in the first place.

I have dreams of alternate futures. Mainly i will dream as if i am living my life and i am actually making decisions about life problems. Sometimes it is crazy other times it is normal.

Though there is one dream that still confuses me. It mainly has me looking up to the sky in some box like structure, and above a are i believe three guys with beards and old looking into the box as they stand above. They say a couple words to me or between themselves or was it they just smiled at me. One of the earliest weirdest dream ever.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I rarely sleep long enough to see/remember any.

Havent seen nightmares in years.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.

I had a dream last night where I was on a lush island with seemingly no signs of human life. It was nighttime, and the sky was incredibly clear (far more clearer than it could ever be in real life, even the Australian outback). I was lying on sand, and I could see our galaxy stretched across the sky. It was amazing. I could see stars in vivid detail, diffuse nebulas and distant galaxies.

Before I had awoken, a big red star in the sky went supernova. It was beautiful. Best dream (and sleep, for that matter) I've had in a while.
