It's also much easier to forgive a comic book movie taking ""creative risks"" with Michael B Jordan because comics are, by nature, multiuniversal. There is rarely a constant, universal canon because the publishers realise that's stupid and hinders creativity. There's a black president Superman, for heaven's sake.

But with a book series, it matters a lot more. And if she is described as white, she's white, but again, I haven't read the books so I'm unaware of the situation.
