Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.
For example, I associate January with a light blue/green color. February is a deep red with a slight purple tint. March is a bright green.

It's not something only a few people experience, it's a common thing. And it's when one the firing of one sense invokes feelings of the others, like feeling sand and being reminded of a beach, so you hear waves in your mind.

Almost everyone could relate to your example. I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences color association with thought alone. Like for me, the number 4 feels orange and the number 5 feels blue. I don't know why those colors correspond to those numbers, it's just what my brain automatically does.
I experienced sensations very similar to this during my psyilocybin trip
