No. If you watch the Legendary ending you see he goes into cryo sleep and Cortana is inserted into (what's left of) the ship's system.

It's still sad anyway. Fuck all of you who say Halo 3 had a bad story. Any other shitty game would've been some cliche happy ending. Fuck you guys Halo is the BEST.
