Having regulated sleep is good. From both my experience and talking to other people (including ones with mental issues), having regulated, scheduled sleep is very beneficial for your physical and mental health. Most importantly it benefits your mood.

Now, I lost my regulated sleep, and it shows. My mood went downhill and here I'm writing this thread in sample text on a phone. You can tell that something is wrong when I start to be more social and  suseptible to emotions which is opposed to autonomous and problem solving attitude. Also when I came home  this Friday my mom told me that my face is green.

Anyway, I wanted to ask whether you sleep on your back or side and whether sleeping on back improves your posture.

because god designed humans very intelligently, there is no optimal sleeping position

they all have their downsides, so you get to pick your poison

personally, i sleep on my stomach because it's the most comfortable for me--it's probably the most unhealthy position, but i don't give a singular fuck

sleeping on your back has to be some dumb christian shit because that doesn't work for me at all

Main sleeping position for me is on my back because of back pain

My bed is too soft though so I usually sleep on my stomach to ease the pain

Interesting, I assumed people mostly sleep on a side, and least on a stomach. Since you mentioned that all positions have downsides, can you tell me what do you think they are? Asking because I'm trying to figure what is best for me.

Oh, but imagine, you sleep on your back, you put hands on your heart and sleep like dead in the coffin, all cats surrounding you, and in the morning mom walks past you and you wake up, rise slowly, as from coffin, in surroundings of cats and ask your mom to share secrets. The face that she would make is priceless.

I see. I'm tried to sleep on my back recently, and I have hard time falling asleep, but I'm patient. My back hurts as well, and it also sometimes hurts when I try to sleep on it, so I guess I have problems with my posture already. Before that I was sleeping on my sides.

My bed is too soft though so I usually sleep on my stomach to ease the pain
Like cats sometimes do. Maybe I should learn from them. Cats are smarter than human anyway, and are professional sleepers.

sleeping on your side is all right i guess, i just personally don't find it very comfortable

sleeping on your stomach can (apparently) lead to back/neck pain, since your head has to be turned, so your spine won't be in a neutral position--i've slept this way for my whole life, though, and i've never had an issue

if this position is impossible, or if i just wanna mix it up (or going through a depressive episode), the fetal position has proven to be remarkably comfortable as well, but if your joints aren't perfectly relaxed, it can lead to soreness

sleeping on your back is EXTREMELY uncomfortable, makes snoring worse, exacerbates sleep apnea if you have it, and is more likely to induce sleep paralysis, which i happen to suffer from regularly, so it's an absolute 100% no-go for me

if we could just float in a bubble or a puffy cloud while suspended in midair or something, that would be ideal

beds suck

I sleep with my back raised up on a mountain of pillows.

Still on my side though.

Your bed might just be too soft
People sleep on their stomach sometimes because of it

Signature goes here.
I sleep on my side; a big problem for me though is I absolutely have to be cold in order to sleep. I tend to have really high body heat so if I'm warm under the blanket I'll sweat and never fall asleep. Summer here in FL is particularly brutal.

I also need about ten hours in order to function properly throughout the day. All those studies of "adults need seven-eight hours and have to wake up in the morning" is largely bullshit and peoples circadian rhythm are pretty unique. I did years of waking up at 5 and going to bed at 9 and I was fucking miserable. My current work schedule has me waking up at around noon and going to bed at around 2 and I'm the happiest I've been in a long time.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I tend to sleep on my right side,  that way I can watch porn (left handed masturbator) and not drop my phone on my face like when I lay on my back and then just fall asleep after I nutt.
Of course if my rampant alcoholism is causing another acid reflux flare up then having my stomach above my throat is a bad move and I'll roll over to my left side to alleviate that problem.

I'm dead fucking tired as I type this at 2230 but im going to stay up drinking beer and farming gacha games because I don't work tomorrow, but otherwise this is where I'd be going to bed (by which I mean just getting in to bed, gotta jerk off before I actually go to bed) for a barely functional 5-530 wake up which consists of multiple snooze buttons, rubbing one out, and then barely not falling down the stairs to shit and shower for the day before leaving for work and totes showing up a half hour late all the time but lmao it doesn't fucking matter because this is Comcast.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
Flat on my back with my head tilted right is my usual. On my side makes my shoulder sore, and front makes me feel like I'm suffocating no matter how I angle my head.
