You don't get to put anything into law until it is resolved because a large majority of Americans are still split on this problem

Gender barriers are a matter of conditioning. It wouldn't be uncomfortable for the people in a society with no gender barriers because they would have been conditioned to live in a world without them. I would also imagine that such a society would probably have abolished the perceived dangers of having no gender barriers like rape or stalking etc. as they would probably have never done away with gender barriers otherwise.
