“It’s two more seasons we’re talking about,” explained Benioff. “From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that’s what we’ll end up with. Call it 73 for now.”“It’s not supposed to be an ongoing show, where every season it’s trying to figure out new story lines. We wanted it to be one giant story, without padding it out to add an extra 10 hours, or because people are still watching it. We wanted to something where, if people watched it end to end, it would make sense as one continuous story.”
Season 6 was shit. The pacing has just been awful.

Especially considering his plot has no relation with anyone else's at the minute. They only have so much time to tell the story, I'd rather they just let us deduce or ourselves that time passing isn't uniform across the storylines instead of having 3 seasons of Jon planning to attack Winterfell.

Usually with shows or movies that jump between months, even years they show what time they are at. But GoT is just one huge mess
"The timelines between the various storylines don’t necessarily line up within a given episode. For instance, the ‘Northern Tour’ Jon and Sansa embark on would probably take a couple weeks, but Arya’s storyline over the past few episodes only spans a few days. We realized a while ago that if we tied ourselves in knots trying to make all the ‘story days’ line up between all the characters the momentum would suffer."
Idk why HBO are so adamant on rushing their biggest show. Not only would it make more business sense to extend the series as much as possible to incorporate everything, but for artistic reasons as well.
