Just out of curiosity, because I can't be assed to read the rest of the thread, how many vegans/vegetarians here would be fine with consuming meat in a non-industrialized society? That is, if meat products weren't mass produced, and we weren't wrecking the environment, would you eat a pork chop?
So the main argument for not going planetary vegan is that we can't replace things fast enough, and it'd just end up being detrimental. Well, if we slowly replaced the amount of cattle with bugs (should eat similar food to the cattle), then we wouldn't have a problem, because the need for protein would be answered with these bugs. I reckon that you'd need less vegetables to get the same amount of protein that cattle give. -It's healthier to eat bugs than it is to eat a steak-You get more protein-You use up less resources-Less immoral to eat bugs than it is to eat los animalesSpoilerNow as for the "we've fucked this planet beyond redemption"-claim, you should not be so pessimistic. We keep talking about problems, and the grim future, but what about the solutions? What about the milestones and growth in green? We need to look at history and how we've improved. We're coming up with better ways to deal with a heating Earth, or at least lowering carbon dioxide emissions- someone should do something about the already melted ice. -We're getting more and more clean energy generators-The People's Climate March has so far been the biggest march in mankind's history-In May 2016 Britain was running on 100% clean energy for a few hours-In the US there are about 150,000 coal workers, and 200,000 solar energy workersYouTubeAddressing the OP:If your dog is a bad breed like a pug, a bulldog, or daschund- dog, but "hund" means dog so it's redundant, but so is the Swedish name for a basketball basket; basketkorg (basket basket)- you should put it down. Don't give it a vegan diet, give it a bleach diet. As for having pets, you're not doing a human thing. Owning pets is a very primal thing to do, and you can't call yourself an animal friend, 'cause that's like calling yourself a protector of ladies (whiteknight faggot).
Oh, also, sure, we've fucked up our planet, but beyond our ability to survive and prosper? I don't think so. Not from heating at least. The problem with overpopulation can be solved in antinatalism, but who would do such a thing, right guys?I don't know about poor countries, but rich countries are having less and less children.

But it really seems like that we are past the point of no return.I want to be proven wrong, badly. But those efforts are just not enough. Also, solar energy is HIGHLY inefficient, and the production of solar panels is awful for the environment. What we need, is nuclear fusion with deuterium. Done properly it is clean and essentially limitless.

And they are breeding like rabbits, filling in the gaps for the first worlders and expanding the population.

The point is, if you're a die-hard vegan that cannot condone supporting eating meat in any way, you have no business adopting a dog or a cat.

Harvesting it on Earth would be easier and cheaper.Fusion is a long way off, and affordable fusion is pretty much fiction for now. Holding out for it won't do you much good.

Fusion or bust, eh? You ever heard of the guy who defied the mafia, and chose to win the boxing match? He didn't care about his life, all he wanted was to win, then he could die, but they didn't kill him. They stopped him from living his life the way he wanted, so for 40 years he lived his life miserable; 40 years of living in a dead body. You might be willing to give it all in the moment, but you're gonna have to live with the loss for the rest of your life, so unless you're planning on dying any time soon, don't do it.

I barely made it through page one. Is the rest of the thread any less retarded?

At the time you'd be find with ending your life with the bet, but because it doesn't end after the fact, you're gonna live a sad life because you're never going to see those eggs again. If he puts all his trust in nuke fusion, and it doesn't happen, he's gonna be hopeless. I'm being a bit melodramatic because I'm in that mood, but there is some sagewisdom in this, and it's relevant.
